Despair
The wasteland, it does all it can to wear one down, change their moral, and break all those out there.
"I cant take this any more!" the weeks of constant stress was finally starting to build up in the little Marisa's mind. "Why does everyone want to kill each other instead of helping rebuild? Why did the man I save from slavery immediately tries to rob me at gunpoint?" The poor fox dropped on her knees, tears pouring out of her eyes as she began to sob uncontrollably as she drops her trusty 10mm pistol to the ground "AND HOW COULD YOU LEAVE THOSE POOR HELPLESS SETTLERS TO DIE IN THERE?" she screams at Fireson, as the pool of blood around his lying body begins to grow. "I thought I knew you and that you were with me the entire way but instead you decided to go against me," Marisa wipes up the tears from her eye and cheek, "and no matter how much I begged you let them all die back there." Marisa sat there crying as the sound of Fireson muttering something caught her from her crying tantrum.
Weakly Fireson responded "they had to go, in order for more life to grow in the long run" he groan in pain as he attempted to add pressure to his fresh gunshot wound.
Marisa barked back at the dying man "We could've done something, anything to help them and get them out." her face turned from sorrow to complete anger "You're only looking out for yourself! If you held for another minute I could've released them and help the wasteland!"
Fireson coughs out some blood, a lot of it landing back onto his face "You should've seen the signs. Lockout was imminent and they blew a way in. No other way by that point"
Suddenly realization hits her like a brick wall. It was true, all of it. She couldn't find a solution with the small amount of time they had. Even if the lockout timer wasn't there, raiders were starting to swarm the place and even if Fireson was guarding their back to the fullest, he would've only bought a few seconds for her to fail at her attempt, only getting them killed in the process. Marisa cried much more as she had foolishly thought she could've gotten everything everyone wanted in that situation. She finally snapped out of her crying trance as she heard one word from her lover she had just shot. "Sorry."
Marisa turned and fear gripped her face as she was about to lose the love of her life and the only person who actually looked out for her since she had left the safety of her Den. Fireson breathing was slow as she quickly grabbed her medical box and started administering first aid, all the while crying and begging him not to die and leave her alone in this unforgiving wasteland.
