She was selected to go through logistics school and train to be a logistics officer for the Imperial Navy.
Kaylii and Moriah kept in touch while they went their separate ways to their respective specializations. While she was undergoing her classwork, she learned to love the material and the challenges her instructors would throw at her. Scenarios ranged from restocking vessels from small frigates to large capital ships to more complex issues of tracking down missing supplies. Eventually, Kaylii graduated top of her class as an officer. Moriah graduated from flight school and earned her wings a year later. The two of them met up for a night of celebration with Moriah's Chiisune Keno joining them.
Two years later there were rumors spiraling through the ranks, that first contact had been made with an alien species. While many had always known this would happen, hence the formation of the Latorii Imperial Navy, it was still a momentous occasion. It was officially announced a few weeks later while details of an official summit between the Clan Leaders and representatives of the new aliens. Hopes were high for a peaceful relationship. Those hopes were dashed before the summit even had a chance. No one is exactly sure what happened, but both accused the other of a first strike.
Kaylii and Moriah were both eager to avenge their fallen comrades who died in the first day of the war. At this point, Moriah was still stationed on an Imperial frigate. However, two years later she was an veteran pilot and stationed on an Imperial capital ship. Moriah gave Keno to Kaylii to watch over before her first deployment with her new ship before it set out on an offensive against the vile aliens who attacked their civilization.
When the battle scarred ship returned, Kaylii was devastated to learn Moriah was not onboard, having been listed as Missing in Action. Kaylii and Keno spent several days mourning the loss of their friend. She was determined more than ever to make those responsible pay now that the war finally had a face to go with it. However, six months later they received a message that Moriah was alive, having survived the battle that left her stranded on a frozen, blizzard prone planet. They were both shocked to discover the only reason she survived was because the human pilot who shot her down rescued her. They were even more shocked when she asked for Kaylii's help... in order to defect. After a long, strenuous conversation Kaylii agreed.
Not only did Kaylii agree to help, but after listening to Moriah's story decided to remain behind and send her information when she could. She knew that she was putting her life at risk, but learning the truth of the war left her no option.
Forty years have passed since the start of the war and Kaylii has remained faithful to her new mission. She has managed to set up a very small spy ring inside the Imperial Navy's logistics chain. Getting information to Moriah in anything regarding real time is nearly impossible, but Kaylii is determined to see this war come to an end. For herself, her daughter, and for her clan.
